Highcliffe Castle and Beach

BH23 4LE

Highcliffe Castle is a castle that has been affected by fires twice in the 20th century and is still in a semi ruined state. you can go along any of the gravel paths from the car park which go through the ornate gardens and grassy areas to the castle or you can just get a cup of coffee in the CAFE that is easily accessed . There is s lift to the first floor - it’s one of those lifts where you have to press and hold a button to go to the level you require and then there are wooden floors to take you around the displays.
You may chose not to go in the castle and scoot down the lengthy sloping path to the beach. At the top of the hill you can look down onto Christchurch Bay and if the weather allows, you may be able to see the Isle of Wight and Hengisbury head. On occasions sand drifts may make it impossible for scooter riders to go along the beach pavement. If this is the case you will have to stop on one of the benches lining the slope to take in the sea air
